Got to speak to the fourth of my Year 9 boys who I had caught indulging in a little work "sharing" in my Computing class. I confess that while I'm never happy with kids who cheat off each other (it's lazy and teaches them nothing beyond, eventually, better cheating technique... okay, maybe that one is useful for some people), what really pissed me off was the fact that they didn't even bother trying to hide the fact that the work was copied! Matching errors, matching fonts... gosh it wasn't even hard to tell that they were EXACTLY THE SAME FUCKING WORK! I was insulted. I mean, come on! If you're gonna cheat, at least try to make the effort to HIDE IT! Well, the little buggers got a nice big fat zero for each piece of plagarised work. Honestly!
At least they had the decency to admit to the cheating. They didn't try to lie about it or pretend like it was some incredible coincidence that they had produced identical work. Hell, the fourth one even offered up that it wasn't just the work I'd corrected that he'd copied but further documents they hadn't had to hand in yet.
Now I just need to come up with an assessment task to test them on all their "Word" work. And work out how the hell I'm supposed to assess it! No thanks to the guy I've taken over from - he's left me sweet FA for this subject, nothing helpful that is.
*sigh*
sleepy now.
Have my first PT in the morning.

I was always too chicken to cheat.... what is happening with the kids of today - ballsy buggers :)
You have PT in the morning? hmmmn, you'll be so glad when you've done it and it's over with but the lead up is kinda, er, groan groan do I have to??
Yours in sympathy ( but proud of you for getting up and doing it) x
If I had a dollar for every time someone had asked to copy my homework in highschool...I'd have a lot of fucking dollars, I tell you what. :)
Ah, the curse of being "the smart one".
The reality is that those boys aren't going to get much smarter.
I know someone who plaigarised at uni. She almost got her best mate expelled. As it was, she had to leave.
